This is not your standard up-and-down-the-mountain trip to Sinai.
This 5-day program is an opportunity to slow down, connect, and get inspired while experiencing the magic of autumn in Saint Catherine’s. The intention is to celebrate nature, stillness, and serenity. And, as always, everything we do—from practices to activities—will be approachable.
The program includes Hatha Yoga, breath-work, Nature-Based Mindfulness, nourishing conversations, and light hiking in the valleys. We’ll break bread with a local family, visit secret gardens, and learn a little bit about how the land is cultivated in the region, too.
The first and last nights of our trip will be spent at a lodge in the village to help ease our travel from and to Cairo. The 2 nights and 3 days in between will involve easy hiking in the valleys, and sleeping under the full moon in private gardens belonging to our hosts.
A team of bedouins will ensure we’re well-fed and looked after, and Aurelia, a seasoned permaculturist, will accompany and inform us about the work being done to promote sustainable agriculture in the area.
The program is limited to 16 participants, and an appreciation of nature and/or willingness to delve beyond your comfort zone is required.
Cost: LE6,200 including private bus / LE5,700 without.
Accommodation: our first and last nights will be at Fox Camp, in the village. The 2 nights in between involve camping in two different gardens in the valley. Mattresses and blankets will be provided but you’ll need to bring a warm sleeping bag, and a pillow is recommended. Tents are not necessary.
Bathrooms: compost toilets will be available in both gardens we’ll camp in. Water for showering will be available in limited supply.
Transportation: a private bus will depart Cairo early in the morning on October 19th. Flights to Sharm are LE2,100 (round-trip) at the time of writing, and transfers to Saint Catherine’s can be arranged upon request.
Weather: days are expected to be warm and nights will be moderately cold (high 25°C / low 12°C)
COVID-19: a rapid COVID test is included in the cost above, and will be administered before boarding the bus to Sinai. Those traveling by plane will need to show a negative PCR test result. We will not be social distancing on the trip, however.
